Lesley BarkerMaster Stylist / ColoristI feel so fortunate to be doing what I love as a career! Having the opportunity to further my training in London, LA, and Paris has given me the skills to better serve my clients hair needs. I want my clients to LOVE their hair — that is incredibly important to me. Maffeo added me to the team in 2007 and I’m still having a blast!

Jenny DinhDesigner Stylist / ColoristI started my career as a Hairstylist 6 years ago attending Vancouver Island University in Nanaimo. Growing up with all-girl siblings’, doing hair is a huge part in our household. Soon after high school, our family agreement was for one of us, at least, to be in the beauty industry. I thought I would give it a shot and fell in love with it since. My love for arts and fashion, since childhood, has helped me keep up-to-date with current cut and colour trends. Participating in photo shoots and attending many hair shows have inspired me to never stop learning. Right from when I first started my career, I was very fortunate to have the opportunity to work with talented hairstylists. I enjoy all aspects of the beauty industry, and am extremely grateful to be part of Maffeo’s salon team and to meet the amusing group of staff. |

Tia HockinLead Esthetician / Makeup ArtistWhen I was younger I loved having friends over and doing Facials, Pedicures, Manicures and “Makeovers”. I even started waxing when I was 12…not sure how my mother allowed me! What a mess!! A good friend pointed all of these things out to me and that is how I decided to attend Tru Spa Institute of Aesthetics Ltd. for their full Aesthetics and Spa course. I learned everything from Manicures, Pedicures, Tinting, Waxing, Brazilians, Facials, Make-up, Massage, Hot stone massage, Body Wraps and Body Scrubs. I have also taken Chemical Peels 101 through Image Skin care and recently took an Eyelash Extension Course though Enlightened Lashes. Some of my specialties are Pedicures, Gel polish, Brow shaping, Brazilians and and Hot stone massage. Hot stone massage is a full body massage that incorporates Basalt stones (they hold their heat) to help soothe and relax sore muscles. I chose Maffeo Salon and Day Spa for a multitude of reasons. There are of course the interesting historical facts of the house that the Salon/Day Spa is based out of. As well as all of the natural light throughout the entire house which is perfect for all the fine details involved with Aesthetics. Maffeo Salon and Day Spa is also known for all of its friendly faces and I wanted to be one of them! I would like to keep continuing my education as much as possible with Aesthetics and try to do everything as naturally as I can. When I am not at Maffeo’s (My second home) I am with my 2 children. If ever the sun is out we are always at the beach or trying to find new trails to explore. My hope is for them to get a hang of their bikes so I can start up running again. I also enjoy swimming, rock climbing and reading. If I could have my own library I would!

Krysta KnottStylist / ColoristKrysta’s interest for hairstyling first began during her teenage years, with an obsession with fashion and hair. She went to school at VIU for Hairdressing, graduating in 2011. After school, Krysta worked as a model, with opportunities in Cannes, France and Montreal. Although she loved modeling, she knew her love for creating beautiful hair was her catalyst into the future. Since coming to Maffeo’s, Krysta has learned not only amazing men’s clipper fades from Brian, impeccable bobs from Kevin, and perfect highlights from Gina, but also a great knowledge of a impressive hair care brand, business and even how to make a decent latte. Krysta loves Maffeo’s because the entire team has given her a place to learn and grow. With all the tools, knowledge and encouragement it takes to succeed. Krysta has recently learned the art of hair extensions, becoming the only one at Maffeo Salon to deal in adding instant length. Trained in 11 different methods, Shrink Links and Nanoweft being among her favorite methods. Krysta’s goals for the future are to build a fun, adventurous clientele, and to help everyone realize their hairs full potential! Outside of work, Krysta enjoys reading. She is obsessed with magic and fantasy, of female heroines who create their own destiny. Or you might find her hanging with her twin sister, doing anything from movies, to board games or shopping.
